My World — 01
Doing cardio doesn't have to be boring and complicated. Most people make it harder than it needs to be — and then they quit. I've been doing this for decades, and I'll show you the smarter way.
My Story
I used to run on a treadmill, run on a track, do stair stepping — for hours. As a result, my knees are bad. All I did was injure myself from high impact cardio. So I had to get smart.
I got a road bike in my 60s and started riding. Of course I was extreme in that too — hundred mile rides, 50 miles, racing. Now I have to do it much smarter. But I still ride. I ride for conditioning, cardiovascular strength, core strength, leg strength, and the pure excitement of riding with the wind in your face — sometimes dodging cars. Hey, adds to the excitement!
There are different ways to approach cardio — for weight loss, for heart and leg strength, for enjoyment. For enjoyment, I need to ride alone. As soon as a group gets together, the race is on. No matter how hard I try, the competitive spirit kicks in. Alone, or with one other person, it's more intentional.
Straight Talk
“Because your heart is literally keeping you alive. Maybe show it some attention.”
Not all cardiovascular training has to feel like you’re being chased. No joint-destroying sprints, no dramatic collapses at the finish line — I focus on low impact methods that are just as effective without the wear and tear. Your knees will send a thank you card.
Bicycles, ellipticals, stairmasters — the quiet overachievers of the fitness world. Underestimated by everyone, respected by anyone who’s actually pushed one to the limit. They don’t look intimidating, but neither does a tax audit — and both will humble you fast.
The mission is straightforward: strengthen your heart, build endurance, improve circulation, and leave feeling like a functioning human being. Low impact on your body. Zero mercy on your excuses.
Your heart puts in a shift every single day without being asked. The least you can do is return the favor.
